Merdeka outing with the underprivileged

IN celebrating Malaysia's 61st National Day, 7-Eleven and NGOHub collaborated yet again, this time, treating children from Komuniti Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Pantai Dalam and Gurpuri Foundation to an outing at the National Museum.
Hinged on the theme of unity, the children, from both organisations were combined, and then put into groups for a game of treasure hunt within the museum grounds. To spice up the challenge, the children were required to study specific artifacts and answer historical trivia before advancing to the next stage.
"This year's National Day is truly a special one as we get to promote the importance of unity and teamwork to the future leaders of our nation," said 7-Eleven Malaysia general manager of marketing Ronan Lee. The fastest team to get through all the challenges took home a hamper.
"United we stand, divided we fall is the important lesson we hope that the children today would take away from the treasure hunt activity, which encourages cooperation and problem-solving within a team. As part of our community outreach efforts in promoting unity, we are proud to have completed this activity in one of Malaysia's most iconic landmarks and bring together Malaysians from different backgrounds," Lee added.
It was the first time for the children from PPR homes - a low cost, high-rise development by the government, established to improve the living standards of the lower income and underprivileged community - to visit the museum.
Together with children from the Gurpuri Foundation, a nationwide movement that cares for orphaned children, the kids feasted on 7-Eleven Malaysia's Fresh to Go meals prior to embarking on their journey to the national museum. The young one's were also given goodie bags and the Jalur Gemilang.
