Statement from Celcom on the SST

06 Sep 2018 / 13:12 H.

CELCOM Axiata Berhad acknowledges the government's decision on the Sales and Service Tax (SST) exemption on prepaid services effective Sept 6.
The company's CEO Mohamad Idham Nawawi (pix) said, "Mobile communications has become an integral part of daily life. As such, we hope that this decision will make a positive impact on our Malaysian prepaid mobile users".
With that, the company announced that it has provided tax rebates to its Malaysian customers who have purchased prepaid plans from Sept 1 to 5 this year, in the form of on-net call freebies.
However, the 6% SST for prepaid services still applies to non-Malaysians and other Celcom services. This announcement is carried on the Celcom website. For more information, visit https://www.celcom.com.my/support/faq/general
