Cops shoot dead two gang members after car chase

KAJANG: Two men were shot dead after a shootout with policemen following a car chase at Jalan Nasbandiah here this morning.
Selangor police criminal investigation department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said in the 1am incident, a policeman from the Selangor police contingent serious crimes unit (D9) was doing his rounds around Jalan Semenyih here when he spotted a luxury car with two men in it.
"The policeman did a check on the registration number. A similar luxury car was earlier reported stolen on Monday. The patrolman also noticed that the colour registered to the vehicle was different, so they tried to stop the car.
"However, the two men refused and a chase ensued for about 4.5km," he said when met at the scene today.
Fadzil said the suspects fired several shots towards the policeman and the duo were killed in a crossfire with the police.
"In self-defence, the officer retaliated and managed to shoot dead both suspects. Upon further checking on the car, police found a few items including two handguns and two machetes.
He also said that both men were locals, aged 43 and 36, from Pandamaran in Klang, and Teluk Panglima Garang in Kuala Langat.
Both suspects also had criminal and drug records and one of them was wanted by the police to facilitate in break-in cases in Klang.
"The first suspect was a member of Geng Devan 360, while the second suspect was a member of Geng Spider 08 and both of them were wanted by the cops," he said, adding that the two suspects were believed to be involved in six robberies, break-ins and car hijacking.
