PETALING JAYA: A close relative of the late Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd founder and chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan (pix) has reportedly been released after being in remand for 10 days.
The woman aged 43, was confirmed to have been released around 9pm on Thursday night by her counsel LS Leonard according to a report by The Star on Sept 13.
Nazrin, 45, was initially reported to have died of smoke inhalation from a fire that broke out in a room at his double-storey terrace house in Mutiara Damansara on June 14, the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
At the time it was believed the fire that occurred past noon was caused by an explosion from the victim's mobile phone that was being charged.
It was reported that Nazrin had suffered 30% burns and other injuries from the explosion.
It is said that he had earlier gone to sleep after complaining of a headache.
The case was classified by police as sudden death.
More than a week after the incident, Fire and Rescue Department investigators who carried out tests on samples gathered at the fire found traces of petrol, opening up suspicions of foul play.
The case was reclassified as murder and police commenced investigations soon after.
On Sept 4, police obtained a seven-day remand order against the woman and her ex-husband.
Her ex-husband was later released but her remand was extended until Sept 13.
Two teenagers were also picked up on Sept 8 in connection with the case and were remanded for seven days but the Shah Alam High Court ruled that the detention was not justified and ordered their release on Sept 12.
