ALOR STAR: Two Kedah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) members were remanded for six days beginning today to facilitate Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigations into a corruption case involving RM20,000.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Mohd Hadi Hakimi Harun on the suspects, aged 46 and 48.
The case is being investigated under Section 16 (a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
The suspects were picked up yesterday at Pendang Toll Plaza at 3.25pm and a restaurant at 12.20pm respectively.
According to an MACC source, the men, both members of the Kedah PKR election committee, allegedly asked for RM20,000 from a candidate to ensure that his name remained in the system for the party divisional election.
The MACC also seized RM10,000 cash in total from the duo. — Bernama
