ALOR STAR: The Kedah police, with the cooperation of the State Education Department and the State National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) plans to continue with the 'My Indah 19' programme to address drug abuse among school students.
Kedah police chief Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar said the programme, initiated in 2017 by former Kedah police chief Datuk Asri Yusof, had identified 19 schools in seven districts in the state with a serious problem of drug addiction among students.
He said current statistics also showed the number of drug abuse cases among school students in Kedah to be very high compared with other states.
Since the programme was carried out in 2017, it has helped to reduce the number of drug cases involving school students, as well as to detect drug peddlers in schools, he told reporters after opening the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) "Penilaian Anugerah Inovasi" programme at SMK Tengku Laksamana here today.
Due to the positive impact of the programme, Abd Rahim said it would be continued in an effort to achieve a zero drug rate in schools. — Bernama
