Fire destroys 10 vehicles in parking lot of apartment building

GEORGE TOWN: Seven motorcycles and three cars parked on the fourth floor parking lot of an apartment building here were caught in a fire early this morning.
A Penang Fire and Rescue spokesman said he received an emergency call about a fire at Menara Riverview along Jalan Sungai Pinang at 4.22am.
The first fire engine truck from the Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene five minutes later, he added.
"The fire quickly swept across, destroying the 10 vehicles in the parking lot and firefighters took about half an hour to control the fire from spreading," said the spokesman here today
He said the firefighters were able to put out the fire at 6.05am, adding that investigations were underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, Northeast District Police chief ACP Che Zaimani Che Awang when contacted confirmed the incident, adding that there was an ongoing investigation. — Bernama
