WE'VE all heard of the awe-inspiring landscapes and breathtaking views New Zealand has to offer, but did you know that the country has as much to extend in terms of a good solid education and quality of life?
New Zealand is known to provide students with a comprehensive all-rounded education filled with valuable learning experiences. At a media gathering here in Malaysia organised by Education New Zealand (ENZ), the country's government agency in promoting international education - its Southeast Asia regional manager Ben Burrowes said that Malaysia remains an important market for New Zealand's international education sector.
Even till today, more than 60 years since both countries forged diplomatic relations, Malaysia still is a key partner of New Zealand's when it comes to education.
According to Burrowes, the number of Malaysian students choosing to further their education in New Zealand has risen. ENZ statistics taken in June this year reported a 21% increase in the number of first-time student visas from Malaysia compared to the same period last year.
"And with the launch of the new International Education Strategy, we are aiming to provide more Malaysian students with not only high-quality education that is recognised internationally, but also a welcoming and safe environment to study in," he said.
Touching a little on the education blueprint, Burrowes informs that there is an International Student Wellbeing Strategy constituent that was developed, that sees to the wellbeing of international students, and ensures they are made to feel inclusive, welcomed and valued for their contributions.
"More importantly, we hope to develop students to become global citizens, equipped with skills needed to tackle global issues of today such as sustainability and climate change," he concluded.
