Escaped inmates of rehabilitation centre re-arrested

ALOR STAR: Ten inmates of the Pokok Sena Rehabilitation Centre who escaped from their hostel at Gajah Mati near here yesterday have been re-arrested, hardly 24 hours later.
Kota Star district police chief ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin said nine of them, aged between 14 and 17, were re-arrested after they were found hiding in an undergrowth at Kampung Durian, Pokok Sena, at about 3.30pm today.
They were re-arrested following information from local residents who saw three men behaving suspiciously and informed the authorities, he said, adding that they were all thirsty and hungry when found.
He said the area where they nine inmates were found was about 2km from the hostel building.
The other, aged 17, surrendered himself at the hostel at about 5.30am today, he said in a statement here today.
The 10 inmates, including a Thai national, were believed to have sneaked out and escape from the hostel between 5.30pm and 9pm yesterday. — Bernama
