Tok Pa knows Umno is damaged: Mahathir

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Jeli Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed decided to quit Umno because he knew that Umno is damaged.
The Pakatan Harapan chairman, however, described the former International Trade and Industry Minister's action as "a bit late".
"He should have known better and left earlier. Umno is already damaged," he told reporters at the Malaysian Franchise Award Night 2018 here last night.
In a statement issued earlier today, Mustapa said his decision to quit Umno after more than four decades of being its member was made as the party's approach was no longer in line with the political principles he had been championing.
When asked whether Mustapa, or better known as Tok Pa, would join PH, Dr Mahathir said: "He didn't say anything.
"If he wants to join (PH), he has to prove to us that he is now different than before," he added. — Bernama
