LABUAN: Labuan MP Datuk Rozman Isli (pix) of Umno has expressed support for the restoration of Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners of the federation in accordance with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He said he would voice his support when the proposed amendment to the Federal Constitution to allow for the restoration of the rights was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat by the Pakatan Harapan government. A two-thirds majority is necessary for the amendment to be carried.
"I have been explaining at length in parliament sessions the need for the devolution of power to Sabah, and I'm glad to note that the restoration of the rights of Sabah and Sarawak is being considered," he said to Bernama today.
Rozman, who is no longer Labuan Umno and BN chief, said he had not considered leaving Umno like Jeli MP Datuk Mustapa Mohamed and Kimanis MP Datuk Anifah Aman.
"I'm still observing the overall political scenario and, as of now, I cannot make any decision yet," he said.
Mustapa, the former minister of international trade and industry, and Anifah, the former minister of foreign affairs, announced their resignations from Umno last Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. — Bernama
