UPSR starts with Mandarin and Tamil papers

BALAKONG: The UPSR examinations has started today with pupils sitting for Mandarin and Tamil papers.
A total of 440,743 Standard six pupils will take the test which ends on Sept 27.
Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching visited SJKC Balakong today to convey her wishes to the 238 pupils who were sitting for their Mandarin test at 8.15am there.
"Take it easy as this is an experience that everyone goes through," Teo told the pupils.
"The pupils must be able to use this examination to assess their level of knowledge to improve and secure a better future for themselves."
This is the second year the Mandarin and Tamil language examinations are being held before the Bahasa Malaysia paper, according to Deputy Director of Examination Operations Izehari Basar.
"This is to enable the markers to complete assessing the papers before the holidays," he said.
"It takes about three weeks to complete marking the papers. We want to complete the marking before Deepavali."
The UPSR examinations will involve 8,100 examination centres and 54,253 examiners nationwide.
