GOPENG: Construction of 7,000 units of houses under the 'Rancangan Perumahan Tersusun (RPT) Perwira' for former soldiers in Perak will continue to be carried out, but with changes in design from landed homes to multi-storey units.
Perak Communications, Multimedia, Non-Governmental Organisation and Cooperatives Development Committee chairman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim said so far 2,000 units had been constructed, but the remaining units could not be built due to land constraints.
"As such, the state government will change the existing design from landed housing to high-density housing so that we can maximise land usage to meet the demand for houses from army veterans," he told reporters, here today.
He had earlier represented Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu in opening the annual delegates meeting of the Perak Association of Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans at the Rural Transformation Centre, here today.
Also present was the association president, Admiral (Rtd) Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor.
