PETALING JAYA: Accountant-General Datuk Saat Esa today confirmed that only RM450 million is left in the Consolidated Revenue Account as at April 30.
He said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was right in declaring that RM11.46 billion of monies available for government administrative spending was used up between Dec 31, 2017, and April 30, 2018.
"For your information, the federal government needs to spend more than RM8 billion a month for emolument and pension benefit payments," he said in a statement today.
The Consolidated Trust Account reflects a negative balance as at Dec 31, 2017, because the transfer of funds from the Consolidated Trust Account to the Consolidated Development Fund for 2017 was only approved by Parliament on March 29, 2018, and affected on July 26, 2018.
