Bernama pledges to be corruption-free

KUALA LUMPUR: Bernama today took the pledge to be free of corruption, joining a number of news organisations that were the earliest to do so under the Pakatan Harapan government.
Bernama CEO Datuk Zulkefli Salleh led about 30 heads of department and officers of the organisation in taking the pledge before Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull at Wisma Bernama.
Zulkefli said Bernama, as the national news agency, places great emphasis on the integrity of its employees and ensures that they are free from corruption.
"Accepting and giving bribes are major offences not only in terms of the law but also in terms of religion.
"I hope all Bernama staff will adhere to the pledge taken today to make Bernama the best news organisation in the country," he said in a speech at the event.
Also present at the event were Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Azman Ujang and Bernama editor-in-chief Datuk Zakaria Abdul Wahab. — Bernama
