GEORGE TOWN: Two senior members of the Penang government have expressed surprise over a viral post claiming that a state exco member had been quizzed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over alleged misappropriation of school funds.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow (pix) said he had no knowledge of the matter and added that if it was true, he would leave it to the MACC to investigate.
Three-term exco member Phee Boon Poh said he was not aware of the matter either.
The viral message states that MACC officers have questioned a state exco member of the Pakatan Harapan state government on Thursday.
According to the post, the probe commenced after lunch at Komtar and lasted for a few hours.
It added that MACC officials had recorded a statement from the exco member and would return for another questioning session soon.
The post also alleged that MACC personnel had demanded for several documents from the exco member to be submitted at the next questioning session.
At the time of writing, MACC officials here could not be reached for comment, despite several attempts to contact the commission.
