KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can bring change especially in Parliamentary reforms, Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Kiong (pix) said today.
In congratulating Anwar on his win at the Port Dickson by-election yesterday, Mah said he hopes the PKR president-elect will ensure more check and balance in parliament.
"I hope he will go ahead with the changes for a more democratic and better system in parliament," Mah said.
Earlier in his speech in front of 200 delegates at the Federal Territory Youth and Women's Annual Representative Conference at Menara PGRM, Mah said nothing is impossible in politics.
He used Anwar's triumphant return to parliament as an example of changing tides in the political world.
"Did you know there was a time when PKR was not known by the people," Mah said. "But today, it is the biggest party with majority seats in parliament.
"In 1999, it had five parliamentary seats, in 2004 it was only one seat. Now, it has great power and is the government of the day.
"In politics, nothing is impossible, there is a tide. This is also a message to all of us (in Gerakan), do not ever be discouraged."

Mah said Gerakan should be able to bounce back as its main focus is on the people.
