KUALA LUMPUR: A large portion of the ceiling of a lounge at a five-star hotel at KL Sentral collapsed earlier today, injuring a foreign worker conducting maintenance work.
The incident occured at about 3.30am when technicians were carrying out electrical wiring work at the ceiling of the lounge at the lobby of the Hilton Hotel.

It is learnt that the wiring work was in progress when the ceiling gave way, causing a Bangladeshi worker to to fall 12m to the ground.
The spokesman said the foreigner suffered head injuries and was provided first aid by paramedics at the scene, before being sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
Firemen also inspected the structure and found the collapsed ceiling covered a large area of the lounge, estimated to be about 1,500 square feet.
Apart from the foreigner, there were no other casualities reported.
When contacted by theSun, a Hilton Kuala Lumpur spokesperson said the incident occured during an overnight routine maintenance work on the lobby ceiling by an approved maintenance contractor, causing a part of the ceiling to give way.
The area will be temporarily closed to the public.
"During this time ORO Café, Chambers Bar and the Lobby Lounge will not be in operation until further notice," the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Brickfields police chief ACP Ruslan Khalid said police had received a report from the supervisor of the maintenance company at about 1.30pm and will conduct an inquiry into the incident to ascertain if there were criminal elements involved.
He said a 25-year-old Bangladeshi worker who was injured in the case suffered light injuries and was given outpatient treatment.
Ruslan said the victim was fixing the wiring of a fire alarm system when the ceiling gave way.
He said furniture and equipment at the lounge were also damaged by the fallen ceiling.
