Unmarried teen dies after delivering stillborn

PARIT BUNTAR: An unmarried 18-year-old girl, who concealed her pregnancy from her family, died after delivering a stillborn at her house here.
She had complained of abdominal pains to her mother and used the attached toilet in the main bedroom of the house at about 8.30am on Sunday.
"After she was in the toilet for about 30 minutes, the girl's mother and sister checked on her," Perak CID chief SAC Yahya Abd Rahman said today.
"The teenager told them she was suffering from constipation. When her mother checked on her again at about 10am, she said she was still using the toilet."
Her family broke down the door at about 2pm after she failed to respond. They found her unconscious, bleeding and slumped against the wall.
"They also found an object and blood in the toilet bowl," Yahya said. "The mother called the emergency line. She spotted the motionless infant in the toilet.
"A medical team who arrived at the house confirmed that the teenager and infant had died at 2.45pm.
"The bodies were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for a post-mortem and the case had been classified as sudden death."
Family members had claimed the bodies from the mortuary to be buried at the Parit Buntar cemetery today.
