HOUSEHOLD brand names Jasmine Food Corporation (Jasmine) and Tefal Malaysia collaborate in organising The Rice Day 2018. The event was established to create awareness and educate the public on the benefits of rice, at the same time bust the myths and common misconceptions about this dietary staple.
The event, themed "No Rice, No Life", is supported by Diabetes Malaysia, Institut Jantung Negara and Padiberas Nasional Berhad (Bernas).
Until Oct 21, consumers can take part in a range of exciting activities and games taking place at 1 Utama Shopping Centre. There are also talks on managing diabetes, free health screening, cooking demonstrations and promotions. Consultant dietitian Indra Balaratnam, Nyonya culinary expert Debbie Teoh, KDU University College chefs and Tefal ambassador Ili Sulaiman are just some of the industry pros who will be sharing their knowledge and know-how.
GROUPE SEB Malaysia country manager Jack Wong who was present at the launch of The Rice Day 2018 said that despite the popularity of rice, which has been a Malaysian favourite for many generations, there are countless misconceptions that have caused the public to avoid eating rice.
"Rice is good for health and that the tradition of eating rice is worth carrying on," said Wong who also encouraged families to cook and enjoy meals together as it is a wonderful way of bringing friends and family closer.
Jasmine CEO Lim Swee Keat couldn't agree more. "Rice is a staple food we cannot live without. Hence, we will continue to create awareness and encourage Malaysians to practice a healthier lifestyle," he said.
Tefal encourages Malaysians to treasure moments with their loved ones by enjoying a delicious meal of healthy rice, cooked with love using Tefal appliances and products.
