KUALA LUMPUR: The position of Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the party will be reviewed at the next supreme council meeting, says Tan Seri Annuar Musa.
Annuar, who is the party's secretary-general, said there is no rush to review Ahmad Zahid's position especially with the corruption charges levelled against him last week.
"We will follow the party constitution. All that is needed to be done will be done by the constitution," said the Ketereh MP in the Parliament lobby today.
Last Friday, Ahmad Zahid was slapped with 45 charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT), accepting bribes and money-laundering amounting to RM114,148,983.86.
Ahmad Zahid and his family claim these charges were politically motivated.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Annuar said Umno did not have a Standard Operating Procedure which required its top officials facing court cases to go on leave.
