Wee warns of internal division if Ping Sieu-Siew Kiong win MCA party polls

MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong says the party may become "a carriage drawn by two horses in opposing directions" if presidential candidate Gan Ping Sieu and his running mate Datuk Tee Siew Kiong win in the party polls later this week.
Wee, who is involved in a three-cornered fight with Gan and Bruas MCA Youth chief Ngoo Teck Keong for the top post on Nov 4, said in a Facebook post that he based his observation on the differing views Gan and Tee hold about Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's leadership, Nanyang Siang Pau reported today.
"Ping Sieu said Tun Mahathir is impervious to reason, who makes it difficult for the Chinese and hurt the economy (with what he said and did). (MCA) can't work with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
"Siew Kiong said he would want to meet Tun Mahathir, (as) Tun Mahathir is a prime minister who has the support of the people. (MCA) does not discount the possibility of working with PPBM.
"One of them said (MCA) 'can't work with PPBM' whereas the other said he wanted to meet Tun Mahathir to talk about (MCA and PPBM) working together," Wee lamented, in highlighting the different views adopted by Gan and Tee.
Meanwhile, Wanita MCA chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie said on Saturday that only the party's central leadership can decide whether it should remain in the Barisan Nasional (BN) or leave the coalition and work with other political parties.
"Whether (MCA) works with other political parties, or withdraw from BN, it is a matter of party policy, which can only be decided by the party central after the (party) elections," she said, adding that the wing will respect whatever decision taken by the central leadership.
