AirAsia has become the first airline to connect Malaysia to Phu Quoc, Vietnam; further strengthening the airline’s Asean connectivity.
The inaugural Kuala Lumpur-Phu Quoc flight, AirAsia Flight AK545, utilised an Airbus A320 with a 90% passenger load factor and upon its arrival, guests onboard were greeted by Phu Quoc People's Committee vice chairman Pham Van Nghiep and local authorities.
“It is encouraging to see how well the destination has been well-received, and we hope this direct service, in tandem with Phu Quoc’s visa-free policy, will accelerate international arrivals to the island and boost tourism receipts,” said AirAsia Malaysia CEO, Riad Asmat.
AirAsia flies from Kuala Lumpur to Phu Quoc four times weekly.
Meanwhile, guests flying from elsewhere in AirAsia’s extensive network – including China, India, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore – can also connect seamlessly to Phu Quoc using the Fly-Thru transit service via Kuala Lumpur.
Travellers from any country may visit Phu Quoc visa-free for up to 30 days.
Phu Quoc is AirAsia Malaysia’s fifth route into Vietnam, in addition to Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hanoi and Nha Trang.
