KUALA LUMPUR: MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd (MYTV) has urged the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to step in and help resolve its dispute with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM).
MYTV claimed that the dispute has caused its broadcast to be suspended in several states.
CEO Michael Chan said that his call was to ensure the continuity of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) services, ahead of closing of the analog broadcast (ASO) in the first quarter of next year.
"We also appeal to TM to immediately rescind the suspension so that the public can continue to enjoy MYTV's services until the government announces the official closing date for analog broadcast (ASO)," he said in a statement, here today.
According to him, MYTV remained committed to achieving the government's target of migrating from analog television transmission to digital under the National Digital Broadcasting Project.
There are 34 DTT transmission towers, covering 92.7% of the population in the country.
"In line with the digital shift in the Asean region, we are speeding up the analog-to-digital migration with the implementation of Direct-To-Home (DTH) services so as to increase coverage nationwide before the digital transformation," he added. — Bernama
