MR.D.I.Y. has emerged as a winner of the prestigious World Branding Awards in the Retailer – Home Improvement category. The awards held at the State Apartments of Kensington Palace in London saw 270 brands from 33 countries being named “Brand of the Year”.
“We believe this recognition will bring MR.D.I.Y. to greater heights in reputation and confidence across the globe. MR.D.I.Y. attributes this success to its management and front-liners for their continuous dedication, contribution and effort in shaping what the brand is today,” said MR.D.I.Y. head of Marketing, Andy Chin.
National tier winners are uniquely judged through three streams – brand valuation, consumer market research and public online voting. Seventy percent of the scoring process comes from consumer votes, and there can only be one winner in each category per country.
“The awards celebrate the achievements of some of the greatest brands around the globe. With an average of six winners per country, it is truly a great achievement to be a winner of these awards,” said World Branding Forum chairman, Richard Rowles.
“More than 4,500 brands from 57 countries were nominated this year, with 351 brands from 49 countries declared as winners. A total of 81 brands from 16 countries were awarded in New York, while 270 winners from 33 countries were awarded in London. And not every country was awarded; as few did not receive enough votes to qualify,” said World Branding Forum chief executive, Peter Pek.
Among the brands announced as global winners included Beijing Tong Ren Tang, BMW, Cartier, Club Med, JinkoSolar, Johnnie Walker, Lego, L'Oréal, Louis Vuitton, Nescafé, Rolex, Samsung, Schwarzkopf and Yakult. Malaysia’s own Maybank and Spritzer also bagged the awards.
Now in its fifth year, the awards is organised by the World Branding Forum, a global non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing branding standards. The forum organises and sponsors a range of educational programmes, and publishes branding news on its website that reaches a global audience of over 23.69 million.
This year’s event was hosted by David Croft from Sky Sports.
