'BN MPs being held accountable is more important than whether Zahid takes leave or not'

ISKANDAR PUTRI: The issue of whether or not Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi takes leave is irrelevant, and what is more important is ensuring that the Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs are held responsible for the 1MDB scandal, said DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang (pix).
Lim alleged that more than half of Johor Umno Youth division members have demanded Zahid to take leave from his position as party president.
However, Lim reminded that the more pressing issue is the silence of many Umno members with regards to the 1MDB scandal which gave Malaysia the "infamy and ignominy of being regarded worldwide as a global kleptocracy".
"1MDB is a national shame, people should never repeat and forget this," the Iskandar Putri MP said after attending the Sherun Old Folk home Deepavali celebration here today.
On Oct 20, Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said any party leaders who had been implicated in legal disputes should take leave or resign from their positions.
