KUALA TERENGGANU: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a policeman and a robbery suspect who fell into the Paka River near Dungun, 77km south of here, resumed at 7am today.
Dungun District Police chief, Superintendent Baharudin Abdullah said a scuba unit from the Chukai Fire and Rescue Station in Kemaman, also took part in the operation.
"The SAR had to be stopped at 3.15am today because the river was very dark and misty. We hope the operation this morning will go smoothly and we can find the police and the suspect," he said when contacted by Bernama.
In the incident at Kampung Durian Mentangau, Dungun last night, the police constable, Wan Mohd Arif Wan Yahya, 28, with three other colleagues were pursuing a suspect known as Zam Ayam when they both slipped and fell into Sungai Paka.
The suspect was believed to have been involved in a robbery in Kampung Limbong near Paka, last Thursday. — Bernama
