Three traders in Kluang detained by MACC

JOHOR BARU: Three traders were detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for allegedly bribing an enforcement officer of the Kluang Municipal Council.

The suspects, in their 40s and 60s, were arrested at the Kluang branch of the MACC office at about 8 pm yesterday.

According to a MACC source, the traders were alleged to have offered a bribe of RM1,500 to an enforcement officer of the Kluang Municipal Council as an inducement to not take action against them for alleged violation of their business and trade licences.

Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias, when contacted, confirmed the arrest of the three suspects. — Bernama
