Pos Malaysia works with MCMC to enhance its rural postal services
CYBERJAYA: Pos Malaysia Berhad is to further enhanced its postal services for rural communities in Sabah and Sarawak via the Pos Authorised Agent project.
It will be doing this through a strategic partnership with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Jailani Johari (pix) said once the initiative is launched next week, the pilot project will be undertaken at eight 1Malaysia Internet Centres (PI1M) in Sabah and Sarawak.
They will be at Kampung Pandan (Lundu), Niah Suai (Miri) and Kampung Jepak (Bintulu) in Sarawak; and Pekan Kinabatangan, Pekan Bingkor Laut (Keningau), Kampung Rampayan Laut (Kota Belud), Sungai Kayu and Batu Sepi (Sandakan) in Sabah.
Speaking at the MCMC strategic collaboration for registered post agents project ceremony here yesterday, he said the
Pos Authorised Agent at PI1M in Sabah and Sarawak would provide value added services like selling Pos Laju prepaid envelopes and boxes, postal registered mail and definitive stamps.
He added they would also serve as the acceptance counter for Pos Laju posting, ordinary mail and registered mail and call point for delivery service.
He said the project would be the catalyst of change for the community surrounding PI1M locations, as the public would enjoy the benefits of high speed Internet services and IT facilities.
