Body of Japanese crew of MT Doha found

ALOR GAJAH: The body of the Japanese crew member of MT Doha, who was reported to have fallen from the ship on Oct 23, was found at Sungai Ayam near Batu Pahat, Johor, yesterday.
Southern Region Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency deputy director (Operation) Maritime Captain Saiful Lizan Ibrahim said the Johor Baru Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) was alerted about the discovery of a floating body of a man at five nautical miles from Sungai Ayam, at around noon.
"A boat from the Batu Pahat maritime base was deployed to the location and took the body to the jetty before handing it over to the police for further action.
"Based on the initial of NYK SM HK seen on the man's shirt and confirmation from the MT Doha agent, we believe that the body is of the missing crew member," he told reporters here today.
On Oct 23, Atsuhiro Kodama, 56, who is the chief engineer of MT Doha, was believed to have fallen into the sea after he was not found on board by the captain since 6.58am. — Bernama
