Teng: Nothing is certain yet

SHAH ALAM: DAP Selangor vice-chairman Datuk Teng Chang Khim (pix) believes it is too early to tell if anything will come from suggestions of cooperation with PAS to fight Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election.
He said PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's statement that the Islamist party may cooperate with Pakatan Harapan is vague and needed to be first discussed among the leadership.
"It is still too early to say what is going to happen. We all agree principally but differences may eventually surface," Teng, the state assemblyman for Sungai Pinang, told reporters in the state assembly's annex building today.
He agreed that ensuring straight fights during the next general election will be crucial.
Hadi reportedly told reporters in Parliament recently that the party is willing to work with other Opposition parties to topple the BN-led federal government.
This seems to be a softening stance since the party and DAP broke ranks, resulting in the dissolution of Pakatan Rakyat in June 2015.
On having Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leading talks with PAS, Teng again said it is still too early to tell and the Pakatan Harapan leadership will need to first discuss the matter.
Regardless, he said, DAP will abide to the collective decision of the Pakatan Harapan leadership.
