Perisai Petroleum served with claims totalling RM1.18m

    PETALING JAYA: Financially troubled Perisai Petroleum Teknologi Bhd’s 51%-owned subsidiary, SJR Marine (L) Ltd, was served yesterday with writs of summons for claims totalling US$278,114 (RM1.18 million).
    It was served an admiralty in personam writ of summons by Emas Offshore (M) Sdn Bhd (EOM) for a US$146,925 claim for charter rates and other amounts allegedly due under charterparty agreements between EOM and SJR Marine.
    SJR Marine was also served with a writ of summons by Emas Offshore Construction and Production Pte Ltd (EOCP) for a US$131,189 claim, being project management services allegedly provided by EOCP for the benefit of SJR Marine.
    “The company is seeking legal advice and intends to challenge and defend the claims under the writ of summons,” Perisai Petroleum said in a stock exchange filing.
    Case management for the matters is fixed for Nov 22, 2016 and Dec 6, 2016.
    Perisai Petroleum said it will make further announcements on the matter when material developments arise.
    EOM and EOCP are wholly owned subsidiaries of Emas Offshore Ltd, which holds the remaining 49% of the equity interest in SJR Marine.
