SHAH ALAM: Former Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim (pix) (Independent-Port Klang) has offered to tell all regarding the state government's ongoing negotiations to acquire Splash.
Khalid said in a statement today that he had contacted the state assembly office to ask for a time slot to facilitate his explanation to the House.
"On the principles of responsibility and integrity, I will attend the state assembly sitting to provide a detailed explanation regarding the offers I've made as Mentri Besar.
"I have contacted the state assembly office to set an appropriate time slot for me to clarify and answer any questions regarding this issue in a comprehensive, concise, and matured manner," he said in the statement.
Khalid also said Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) claim that he had offered Splash RM2.9 billion during his tenure in 2009 is a lie and an attempt to divert attention from the fact that Azmin failed to answer questions regarding the acquisition in a concrete manner.
Selangor BN immediately threw their weight behind Khalid, saying in a press conference today that they will continue to press the state government until they receive a satisfactory answer.
"We will fight on until we get an answer and find the truth behind the matter," Datuk Shamsudin Lias (BN-Sungai Burong) said in the state assembly's annex building today.
Failing which, Shamsudin said, the state Opposition will continue to push for a hearing by the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability, and Transparency (Selcat).
Shamsudin submitted an emergency motion urging Selcat to conduct a hearing on the acquisition as the state government's offer of RM2.9 billion is vastly more than the original RM250 million.
This was rejected by the Speaker's Office as the matter has been answered extensively by Azmin during his budget wrap up speech.
