KUCHING: Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem (pix) commended Sarawak Information System Sdn Bhd (SAINS) for what it has achieved for Sarawak and for itself over the last 25 years.
He said SAINS had propelled the ICT utilisation of the state government from being among the lowest to currently among the highest in Malaysia, thus re-defining its public service delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
"Sarawak is well known for its friendly and multi-talented people as well as being very rich in natural resources and keen to do businesses," he said at the SAINS 25th anniversary gala dinner at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here last night.
His text of speech was read by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah.
The gala dinner was also attended by foreign guests from New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar, China, Qatar and Guinea, apart from Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, who are SAINS existing customers, prospective new customers as well as local channel and technology collaboration partners.
The chief minister thanked them for choosing to do their ICT business with Sarawak, hoping that apart from doing ICT bsiness with the state, they would also spread words to their compatriots about their Sarawak experience.
"We like nothing better than to be able to achieve greater win-win results through long-term friendly collaborations," he added.
Hence, Adenan hoped that SAINS would work closely with the state government to explore how to optimise areas of collaborations, including in programmes like rural ICT guided home-based technopreneur, community healthcare advancement nurturing for growth eco-system (CHANGE), equitable quality unified information via Learning in a Box for Rural Areas or (Library in a Box). — Bernama
