Family of missing Brazilian hire divers to look for capsized yatch

GEORGE TOWN: The family of a 24-year-old Brazilian man who is missing after the yacht capsized on Sept 16 is seeking for closure.
Family spokesman Nicholas De Souza said the family conceded that the chances of finding Lucas Bondenzan alive was remote following the incident some 15 nautical miles off the Muka Head coast near Teluk Bahang.
He said finding the wreckage of the ship will nonetheless give the family some closure.
"Finding Lucas alive is quite impossible and they now hope to find the wreckage or his remains so they can have closure," he said in a press conference today.
De Souza also said the family wished to thank the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and the Malaysian government for their help.
He also expressed hoped that the MMEA can approve their application to bring in sonar equipment for the search which can expedite the search operation.
In the 7pm incident, luxury yacht UN1K, owned by Frenchman Pascal Vuanh-Quan, was on the way to Singapore after leaving Langkawi, Kedah.
It is believed a fire at the engine comportment broke out and caused an explosion which crippled the vessel.
Three people including the captain and chief engineer were rescued by local fishermen and brought to the Kuala Kedah jetty. They were subsequently sent to the Alor Star Hospital for treatment.
The three were identified as Siberian Novak Novakovic, 28, Croatian Rudolf Kolic, 61, and Czech Republic national Jaroslav Horejsek, 37.
