Malaysia to showcase innovations at Maha 2016

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia will showcase innovations in agriculture including mechanisation and information technology at the Malaysia International Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (Maha) 2016.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Datuk Nogeh Gumbek said the government's commitment to improve the country's agricultural productivity is translated via the Maha 2016 theme, 'Our Food, Our Future.'

"Innovation in agriculture is needed to improve productivity with limited resources to meet the food needs of Malaysia's population which is expected to reach 50 million by 2050.

"The government's focus is to increase food production for future needs via innovation and technology," he said at the ministry's Innovation Day celebration at Wisma Tani, here today.
