No extra time for Khalid Ibrahim to clarify Splash's acquisition

SHAH ALAM: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim (Independent-Pelabuhan Kelang) will not be given more time to clarify issues surrounding Splash's acquisition.
Selangor legislative speaker Hannah Yeoh (DAP-Subang Jaya) said Khalid no longer has the privilege of special time allocations as he is no longer Mentri Besar.
"His officer called the state assembly office and asked if he can be given a time slot, but he is no longer the mentri besar.
"I have a list of items on the order paper that I need to follow, I cannot suddenly give an independent assemblyman time," Yeoh told a press conference in the state assembly's annex building.
She said Khalid had wasted his opportunity to seek further clarification or ask questions as he was absent during Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) Budget 2017 wrap up.
Yeoh also said her office and the state assembly office both did not receive any written requests from Khalid concerning the matter.
She also said the state government has been fair towards all assemblymen as government backbenchers were similarly called out for not being present when their questions were answered.
"This is why Kota Anggerik (PKR's Yaakob Sapari) was scolded by the state exco (PKR's Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Elizabeth Wong) today, they were not biased," Yeoh said.
She was referring to Yaakop's question to Wong regarding the recent water contamination incidents, to which Wong replied that it has been answered extensively and on multiple occasions.
The Selangor state government's latest offer to acquire Splash stood at RM2.975 billion, which Khalid said is a grossly inflated price as compared to the original offer of RM250 million.
Azmin said Khalid had also offered RM2.9 billion during his tenure as Mentri Besar but the latter denied it, offering to explain all in the state assembly instead.
