Penang pays tribute to fallen heroes

GEORGE TOWN: Hundreds of people including political leaders from both sides of the divide thronged the Air Itam War Memorial Park at Bukit Bendera to commemorate World Remembrance Day which is celebrated annually on Nov 11.
Celebrated at precisely 11am, 11 minutes and 11 seconds, it is held yearly to remember members of the armed forces who died during the Japanese occupation.
The war memorial located at the Air Itam roundabout contains the remains of those who perished during the resistance movement.
Those who came sang the Negaraku and state anthem in remembrance of the 71st anniversary of the Penang Overseas Chinese Anti-Japanese War Memorial World Remembrance Day.
Those who attended include Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, state exco members and also leaders from the state MCA and Gerakan.
