Najib suggests ways to bring batik to the global market

KUALA LUMPUR: Explore new methods and techniques in the crafts and creative industry to make it to the global market.
Stating this, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak urged industry players in the batik business to also pay attention to new materials and quality control for products.
"If we want an increase of 3% to 4%, we can find that in traditional fields, but if we combine them with creativity, we can achieve a leap of more than 30% to 40% or even 50% annual increase in the industry.
"What more if we combine with e-commerce because on-line business is the way forward," he said in his closing speech at the Wanita Kreatif Fest 2016 here today.
Najib noted how in China, the community has become cashless and use online purchasing widely.
He said Malaysians must be bold to bring the traditional fields of businesses to the global market.
"We have to think of how to bring this to greater heights. I don't want the industry players to stay in this same level of thinking.
"Use new technology, new thinking and creativity, new materials, do research and development with new platforms so that the industry will be able to market at global level," Najib said.
He said potential designers should be mindful of quality control and reliability supply.
