Guan Eng's invitation to EC re-delineation hearing doesn't make sense: Jagdeep

GEORGE TOWN: The State Election Commission's (EC) invitation for Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to attend the first hearing on the re-delineation proposals of P41 Kepala Batas and P53 Balik Pulau does not make sense.
Penang exco Jagdeep Singh Deo said this was because Lim did not object to the re-delineation proposals of both the parliamentary seats.
Speaking at a press conference at Wadda Gurdwara Sahib, Jalan Gurdwara today, Jagdeep said if Lim is invited, it must be in relation to his objections to three parliamentary and five state assembly seats.
The invitation letter dated Nov 2 was sent to Lim to be present at Eastin Hotel for the first hearing of Kepala Batas and Balik Pulau on Nov 18.
On Oct 14, the state government had submitted its objections against the EC's re-delineation proposal.
The objections were for three parliamentary constituencies – Bukit Mertajam, Bukit Bendera and Bukit Gelugor and five state constituencies – Air Putih, Sungai Pinang, Seri Delima, Air Itam and Paya Terubong.
Jadgeep Singh, coordinator of a three man committee in the re-delineation studies, said the state government is also seeking a new date for the EC meeting as it clashed with the state assembly sitting which begins on Nov 15.
He said all objections against the re-delineation proposals have been stated and sent to the EC state director on Nov 10 and now awaiting his reply.
Earlier, Jagdeep presented certificates of Penang Sikh Association-Karpal Singh Education Excellent Award to 39 Sikh students who scored good grades in UPSR, PT3 and SPM examinations.
The award was given to motivate Sikh students to further excel in their studies.
