IPOH: A final warning has been issued to organisers of the Bersih 5.0 rally to call off the gathering scheduled to be held at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur on Nov 19.
The warning also goes to the Red Shirts.
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sabtu Osman said if they still wanted to go ahead with the rally, then the police have its own strategies and plans to face it.
"They will have to face the consequences if they go ahead," he told reporters after closing the IGP Karate Trophy championship here today.
Muhammad Sabtu said the rally is being held on a Saturday when people are out shopping, at work and doing other things.
"There are other ways to air their views. Just as a precaution, some road will be closed to traffic ," he said, adding that the rally will not only cause inconvenience to road users and members of the public but also tarnish the image of the country.
Bersih's application was rejected as it did not fulfill requirements under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
Police could not process the application because Kuala Lumpur City Hall did not approve Dataran Merdeka being used as the venue for the rally.
