KUALA LUMPUR: Former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin reiterated that he has parliamentary immunity for comments that allegedly violated the Official Secrets Act 1972 (OSA).
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president said he is being investigated under the OSA and the Sedition Act 1948.
"I hope I will not fall into the same situation as Pakatan Rakyat's (PKR) Rafizi Ramli because I believe what I spoke in Parliament was in my role as an MP," Muhyiddin told reporters when met at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here today.
He was referring to the conviction of Rafizi who was charged under the Official Secrets Act 1972.
"I do have immunity, so I hope the authority will consider the whole background to what I have said in Parliament," added Muhyiddin.
Muhyiddin, who was questioned for two hours is alleged to have breached the law by revealing Cabinet meeting details during a speech in Parliament.
Two other former ministers, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, were also called by the police to record their statements.
Shafie gave his statement to the police last week for allegedly revealing government secrets during the debate in the 2017 Supply Bill.
Husni is yet to do so, as his questioning was postponed.
