KOTA BARU: Police detained 15 Myanmar nationals to help investigations into the murder of four of their countrymen whose bodies were discovered in Bachok on Oct 30.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Dr Ab Rahman Ismail said four suspects were arrested on Nov 3, followed by another 10 on Nov 13.
He said all the suspects, including a woman, aged between 20 and 50 were detained in Kota Baru, Jeli and Kuala Lumpur.
"We arrested another male suspect in his 20s in Kuantan (Pahang) at 1.30pm yesterday," he told reporters at the Kelantan police contingent headquarters here today.
He said police would seek an extension to the remand orders for the 14 suspects after it expires on Nov 19 and 20, for further investigations.
Ab Rahman said police were also looking for a number of other suspects.
The bodies of the victims, aged between 20 and 30, were found in the bushes near a road in Kampung Tanjung Hilir, Bekelam, Bachok.
All the four were believed to have died at least three days before their bodies were found.
In a separate case, Ab Rahman said police arrested five suspects to facilitate investigations into the alleged murder of a 29-year-old man in Felda Aring, Gua Musang, on Nov 11.
He said four suspects were arrested on Nov 12, while the main suspect was arrested the next day at a house in Ladang Sungai Retong, Kuala Koh, Gua Musang.
Police also seized a stick from the 34-year-old suspect which was believed to have been used to hit the victim's head.
"Investigations revealed that the suspect hit the victim, who was said to have had ties with his sister-in-law," said Abd Rahman. — Bernama
