KUALA LUMPUR: Former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim (pix) was called up by police to assist in a sedition probe against him today.
Zaid together with his lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, as well as former Bar Council president Datuk S. Ambiga and a few opposition MPs, arrived at Bukit Aman at about 11am today following the summons.
"For the time being, we will wait for the results of the investigations. The case is being investigated under the Sedition and Communications and Multimedia Acts," he told reporters when met outside the police headquarters here.
On Nov 11, Zaid tweeted "Looks like if you are a crooked PM, all you have to do is appoint a crooked AG, and the court will not interfere".
Soon after, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar directed the Police Cyber Investigation Response Centre (PCIRC) to investigate Zaid for the tweet deemed seditious.
It is learnt that Zaid wrote the message shortly before a hearing of his application for a judicial review of Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali's decision not to take action over two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigations.
On a separate matter, Zaid confirmed his attendance for Saturday's Bersih rally.
He also said that the Red Shirts were a nuisance.
"We don't need a group like that," Zaid added.
