More senior officials from companies that had dealings with former CEO of GLC to be nabbed: MACC (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) expects to nab several more senior officials of companies that had dealings with a former chief executive officer (CEO) of a government-linked company (GLC) it arrested on Monday for corruption involving more than RM40 million.
Sources said MACC investigators are gathering information from the 50-year-old ex-CEO who is a Datuk and hope to uncover the identity of the culprits who were linked to the case involving the award of work contracts worth over RM50 million.
Yesterday, the MACC froze another RM800,000 found in another bank account of the suspect.
Investigators also seized ten cars worth RM4 million, such as a Porsche Turbo, Range Rover, BMW, Aston Martin, Audi, Mini Cooper and Bentley; and five luxury watches worth almost RM3.5 million; and RM200,000 in cash.
The ex-CEO's brother who is in his 30's who is a sales manager of the GLC and another a senior official who were held on Tuesday are also assisting investigators in the probe.
The Datuk who is currently employed as a director of another GLC was detained at his house in Shah Alam on Monday after months of coming under the radar of the MACC.
Sources said the MACC also believes more of the ex-CEO's ill-gotten gains will be detected in the coming days.
Last week, a 56-year-old managing director of a construction company, also a GLC, was arrested by the MACC in Seremban for power abuse and bribery involving tens of million ringgit. Investigators also learnt that he and his family members owned nine properties in Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Negri Sembilan. The suspect remains in the custody of the MACC after his remand order was extended on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa has urged all employees of government-linked companies to adhere strictly to the principles of integrity in the performance of their duties.
"Integrity is the most important element of all, and it must be supported by all civil servants and GLC employees," he said to reporters after attending the Asia Pacific for You (APAC4U) programme at the Puspanita Kemas Nursery and Puspanita Permata Nursery of the Prime Minister's Department here yesterday.
