PETALING JAYA: MTD ACPI Engineering Bhd has been awarded a contract worth RM678.68 million by Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) for works related to the Mass Rapid Transit 2 (MRT 2) project.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, it said its wholly-owned subsidiary MTD Construction Sdn Bhd (MTDC) had accepted a letter of award from MRT Corp appointing it as the works package contractor.

MTDC will undertake and complete Package V208, which comprises the construction and completion of viaduct guideway as well as other associated works, from Taman Pinggiran Putra to Persiaran Alpinia.

The works, which will take 66 months to complete, will commence upon issuance of the notice to proceed to MTDC.

MTDC is required to execute a tripartite agreement with MRT Corp and MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd, the project delivery partner (PDP) within three months from the date of the letter of acceptance.

Under the tripartite agreement, MTDC shall accept the PDP's authority in the overall management of the works and deal directly with the PDP on all matters under the contract.

The contract brings the group's order book to RM992.1 million and is expected to contribute positively to the net assets and earnings of MTD ACPI group for the financial year ending March 31, 2017.
