Unit on 35th floor of Tanjung Bungah condo damaged in fire

    GEORGE TOWN: A unit on the 35th floor of a condominium in Tanjung Bungah caught fire early today.
    A spokesperson from the Penang Fire and Rescue Department said no one was injured in the 7am incident.
    He said some 25 firefighters from the Bagan Jermal, Jalan Perak and Teluk Bahang stations reached the scene within minutes after receiving a call.
    "Based on initial investigations, 80% of the vacant unit was destroyed in the fire," he told reporters here today.
    The spokesperson said firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 10.40am.
    He said the cause of the fire and the total cost of the damage has yet to be ascertained.
