2.22pm: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed made brief appearance at the ongoing Bersih 5 rally. The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman was accompanied by his son former Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as well as former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. 1.44pm: The crowd of Bersih 5 supporters in Bangsar were asked to disperse and find their own way to Dataran Merdeka after several hours of being blocked from progressing.
1.40pm: After hours of delay, some 5,000 Bersih participants from the National Mosque finally managed to converge with the main group outside Dataran Merdeka. Read more here
12.38pm: Due to police barricades, some 3,000 Bersih 5 rally-goers from the National Mosque are rerouting their march towards Masjid Jamek, to converge with another group there.
12.36pm: The first negotiation between Bersih 5 representatives and the police today failed as the police has rejected the group's request to pass through Jalan Travers to meet up with another Bersih 5 group.

12.21pm: Ambiga Sreenevasan, several Bersih steering committee members and opposition MPs are negotiating with police representatives to allow Bersih 5 rally supporters to pass through Jalan Travers.
12.10am: The 3,000 strong Red Shirts group at Jalan Raja Laut have been given the green light by the police to march down Jalan Kuching, and then on to Padang Merbok via Jalan Kinabalu.
12pm: FRU personnel and the police are getting ready at Jalan Travers to prevent Bersih 5 supporters from going beyond their security line.
11.50am: An estimated crowd of about 3,000 Red Shirts supporters gathered in front of Pertama Complex as theirs leaders Armand Azha and Bukit Mertajam Umno division leader Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir negotiate with the police to allow them to march along Jalan Kuching towards Padang Merbok.

11.10am: The area around the LRT train station in Bangsar have turned into a carnival-like atmosphere when the Mahasiswa group led by Bersih steering committee Adam Adli Abdul Halim converge with the crowd already in Bangsar.
11:01am: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said has labelled opposition leaders behind Bersih 5 rally, today, as a "motley crew" of former enemies driven by self-interest and not the greater good of society. Read more here
11am: Around 1,000 Bersih supporters have gathered around Masjid Negara, waiting to converge with the group coming from Bangsar.
10.45am: The Red Shirts rally-goers are nowhere to be seen at Bangsar LRT station despite earlier statements from their representative that Red Shirts will be wherever the Yellow Shirts are.
10.30am: Local film director, stand-up comedian, political and social activist Hishamuddin Rais was arrested the police in front of Menara UOA Bangsar near the LRT train station in Bangsar. Read more here
10.30am: Activist Marina Mahathir addressed a crowd of at least 1,500 Bersih supporters at Bangsar LRT station.
10.14am: Representatives of the Bersih steering committee began addressing some 500 participants at Masjid Negara, marking the start of the rally at the checkpoint. Bersih 5 rally-goers were reminded not to blow the vuvuzela as it would disrupt communications coming from the assigned commanders.
