PETALING JAYA: Former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to attend the Bersih rally in Kuala Lumpur city after arriving from Sudan at noon.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman is expected to attend the rally with his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as well as party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
A photo of the elder statesman clad in a Bersih t-shirt after arriving at the Subang airport has been widely circulated on social media.
Earlier, Dr Mahathir in a video on Wednesday urged Malaysians to participate in the rally.
"I hope all Malaysians will participate in the demonstrations by Bersih," he said in the two-minute video.
In 2015, Dr Mahathir attended Bersih 4.0 with his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
