Mahathir makes brief appearance at Bersih 5

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed has made a surprise appearance at the ongoing Bersih 5 rally.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman made the brief appearance at Dataran Maybank after arriving from Sudan.
He is accompanied by his son former Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as well as PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Though he said he was happy with the turnout, he expressed disappointment over the recent detentions.
Mahathir also refuted the claims that the rally was largely Chinese dominated.
"There should not be any question about race here as those who joined the rally are concerned about what is happening in the country," he said.
He said no matter what the end result is from this rally, everyone played their part in doing something.
